Please come out to Wings Pizza N Things this Thursday, August 14th from 4-10 p.m. Meet our newest teammate, a local Colorado Curling Legend that won the National Curling Championship at the Broadmoor World Arena in 1983. Our intention is to make it to the 2010 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Curling. The Broomfield Event Center will host the weeklong competition February 21-28, 2009, in a 7,000-plus seat arena located between Denver and Boulder. The winner is the team that will represent the USA in Vancouver.
We are asking for your support to help us raise some money for equipment, tournament fees, and travel expenses. We have several Bonspiels (tournaments) on the radar, but our next Bonspiel is in Chicago from October 2nd to the 4th. This is the 23rd Annual International Bonspiel hosted at the historic North Shore Country Club, located in Glenview, Illinois. This Bonspiel draws in seasoned curlers right out of the curling heartland from states such as IL, MI, MN, ND and WI. Canada is usually well represented too. Now “Under New Management”, we are anxious to see how well we stack up against some of the nation’s best.
So please pop your head in to Wings Pizza N Things on the 14th. There will be some great Raffle and Silent Auction items such as: Gift Cards from Wings Pizza N Things, Bucca Di Beppo, and Front Range BBQ. There will be Tanning Salon prizes and a Gold’s Gym Membership card. Although we aren’t getting a special guest appearance by Dog the Bounty Hunter and Duane Lee Chapman for this fundraiser, we will have signed autograph pictures from these "friends of the team". Even if you don’t have time to eat the $10 buffet, please take enough time to enjoy frosty Alaskan Amber Ale for $1.00 a beer. Help keep the dream alive for a bunch of old men…you just never know until you try.
